Field Based Professional Learning for Continued Leadership Development
Chairs: Dr. Janet Ledesma & Dr. James Berry
The goal that was established by this workgroup is to leverage coherence by developing an MAPEL template for creating field-based professional learning focusing on areas such as: Principals in time of crisis, Leadership capacity, Mindfulness and care, Early childhood, Race and Identity Matters, to name a few.
This group has also carefully reviewed the CCSSO initiative to improve principal training programs and has suggested the Advanced Inclusive Principals Leadership (AIPL) program could serve as a template for Michigan. There are some additional resources that are available (PSEL, Faculty Materials, High Level Practices, and Case Studies). Next steps may include connecting with CCSSO as an affiliate state and then continued discussions among MAPEL members to coordinate and develop resources for principals and district leaders.
